Digital Design portfolio

I wanted to do everything, but around 6 years ago I realised that what I wanted to do most was design for screen.

In this time I’ve worked as a freelancer, in agencies and on in-house teams. Which do I prefer? I honestly like the opportunity to produce work of the highest quality possible, and be around people who strive to do the same.

I’m a designer at heart (I’ve been designing in print for 10 years) and my front-end skills extend to HTML5, CSS3, with a basic grasp of JavaScript and PHP. I build WordPress themes from scratch and I’m always learning, nothing stays still for long in this industry.

When I’m not behind a computer I am an active member of the arts and photography communities and have exhibited in many of the regional arts venues. I occasionally teach photography/darkroom workshops and I produce publications for local arts organisations. I walk a lot (mountains, housing estates…) and keep chickens.

Paragon Bank

Paragon Bank

Paragon Bank is an online UK savings bank that was launched in early 2014. Within a year of trading it had quickly outgrown its online platform.

I was tasked with redesigning the site from the ground up, taking into consideration the expanding range of products on offer and the increasing need for the business to react quickly to changes in the savings market.

The result is a device responsive site that makes use of a grid system to display products and information in a clean and user-friendly way.

Cyan app

Cyan app

Cyan is a project management and workflow application that is produced by software studio Cotidia. Initially a bespoke solution for a select number of clients, Cyan is now being developed as an out-of-the-box product that will be customisable to meet the demands of the organisation.

As part of the development I was asked to produce a number of wireframes and user-interface concepts. The app is due to re-launch in late 2016.

Alec Forss portfolio

Alec Forss portfolio

Primarily based in Sweden, Alec Forss is a travel writer and journalist who has an ever-growing list of published works. Alec had kept a blog for a few years using an out-of-the-box template, but decided that it he wanted a more personal platform to showcase his portfolio.

Working closely with Alec, and with the digital article as a main focus, I created a custom WordPress theme. Making a strong first impression on editors and commissioners is a key to Alec’s success as a writer, so I worked hard to produce a site that is not only visually elegant, but also optimised for reading.
